Elon Men’s Tennis Drops 4-3 Decision to VCU

RICHMOND, Va. – The Elon University men’s tennis team began its weekend road trip with a 4-3 loss to Virginia Commonwealth at the Thalhimer Tennis Center.

The Phoenix began strong by winning the doubles point and held a 3-1 lead before the Rams won the final three singles matches to clinch the victory.

The Highlights
The doubles teams of Felipe Osses-Konig/Mario Paccini and Salvador Mijares/Taylor Foote claimed 6-3 victories to secure the doubles point and give Elon a 1-0 lead.

Paccini quickly dispatched VCU’s Vitor Lima 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles to stretch Elon’s advantage to 2-0.

Felipe Sarrasague made it 3-1 after a 4-6, 7-6, 7-6 win over the Rams’ Daryl Monfils at the top singles position.

VCU followed with wins on singles court Nos. 6, 3 and 5 to clinch the match.
