Elon Women’s Tennis Suffers 4-3 Defeat at Furman

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Elon University women’s tennis team lost a 4-3 decision to Furman on Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Mickel Tennis Center.

Furman won the doubles point and secured victories on singles court Nos. 1, 2 and 5 to clinch the match.

The Highlights
Olivia Lucas, Maria Paraja and Alex Koniaev earned three points for Elon with singles victories. Lucas got the Phoenix on the scoreboard with a three-set, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, victory over Furman’s Katarina Kozarov.

After the Paladins went up 4-1 with a win on court No. 5, Paraja finished off a 6-7, 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles to add a point for the Phoenix.

Koniaev outlasted Furman’s Gabby Rodriguez in a third-set tiebreaker to earn Elon’s third point of the match.
