SOUTHWEST GUILFORD 88, HIGH POINT CENTRAL 50

It was quite an eventful night at the Ranch as the SW Cowgirls hosted their cross town rivals from High Point Central. It was the last regular season home game for the Cowgirls. The night started out recognizing junior forward Lauren Carter for scoring her 1000th career point against East Forysth on Feb. 3rd. It was also senior night, so recognizing seniors LaShonda Monk, Jazmine Wilson, & Tea’ Medley was in order.

As for the game, the Cowgirls got off to a quick start and never looked back, beating the Lady Bison 88-50. The Cowgirls were lead by the 3 headed monster of Carter with 31 points, Faith Price with 24 points, & Monk with 19 points. Central was lead by Kiera Williams with 22 points & Chelsea Martin chipped with 11 points.

  1. Excellent article about the Cowgirls. Both Southwest Cowboys and Cowgirls are excellent squads and the athletes work so hard, but the coverage for the girls has been limited. The exposure and validation for these athletes encourage more participation, especially among females.

Love the color commentary by sportswriter Roc Elliott was superb. Keep it up, especially for the tournament. Miss Andy Durham. He was a welcome sight at the games.

  2. Yes, agree, a great job by Roc and Andy was there for the two SWG-NWG games and we may see those two go at it again, next Friday night….
