Kernersville, NC – –

Tonight’s Piedmont Triad 4A Conference match-up represents the regular season finale for both the Ragsdale Tigers and Glenn Bobcats. Both teams are reeling lately, simply looking to go into postseason with some positive momentum. Ragsdale has lost 4 games in a row, while Glenn has lost 11 consecutive games. These two teams tangled in Jamestown a couple of weeks ago on January 26th. The Tigers jumped out to a commanding 18-1 lead and would never look back, going on to win 66-49. Coincidentally, that was the last win the Tigers have earned.

In tonight’s game, the visiting Tigers would take an early first quarter lead thanks to balance offensively and getting stops on the defensive end. However, Glenn then got it going offensively late in the first quarter, and take a 1 point lead after the first period. The Tigers began the second quarter with numerous sloppy plays on both sides of the ball. Careless turnovers and a number of offensive rebounds given up, led to Glenn leading by as much as 11 points halfway through the second quarter. After a couple of timeouts in that stretch, Ragsdale would make a small run at the end of the quarter to cut into the deficit. Glenn took the lead into the halftime break, 29-24. In the third period, the Tigers would clamp down defensively and started to execute more efficiently on offense. After cutting the lead to just one, Glenn would take a 42-40 lead into the final frame. The teams traded baskets to open the period. Finally, Ragsdale would grab a hold of the lead and would never look back. Nick Coleman and Raekwon Blocker would ice the game with free throws down the stretch, as Ragsdale would defeat Glenn 57-50.

Leading the way for the Tigers were Seniors Nick Coleman (19 points) and Raekwon Blocker (10 points, 7 rebounds). Toby Brown led the Bobcats with 11 points on the evening.

Ragsdale finishes the regular season improving to 9 – 15 overall and 3 – 7 in the Piedmont Triad 4A Conference. Glenn drops to 5 – 19 overall and 0 – 10 in the conference.
