Bishop McGuinness played host to Atkins HS in the first round game of Northwest 1A Conference Tournament in Kernersville Monday night. The Villains started the the game with a 9-2 run, followed by an 8-2 run and forced the Atkins coaching staff to burn a couple of timeouts in the first quarter. As the Camels kept fighting, Bishop halted every possible run with a big stop on the defensive end of the floor. A key boost for the Villains occurred at the end of the 2nd quarter as Johnny Pagano hit a DEEP, contested three from the corner as time expired. CJ Cappuccio led all scorers with 21 and Ryan Moon pitched in 15 of his own. The Villains had many key bench contributions, including major ones from Mark Palmisano (8 pts) and Peter Ingle’s play defensively. Bishop awaits their next opponent and will travel to, tournament host, Mt. Airy HS on Wednesday night to play in the conference semifinals.
