The First Tee of the Triad Spring Registration Opens on Valentine’s Day; Two New Learning Centers Now Open

GREENSBORO, N.C. – It’s been less than a month since snow covered the ground in the Piedmont Triad, but with some spring-like weather already a somewhat regular occurrence, it won’t be long before golf balls fly through the Triad air every day, and that means it’s time to register for The First Tee of the Triad’s spring programming. Registration for all spring programming opens on Valentine’s Day, Tuesday, Feb. 14, the chapter announced today. The First Tee of the Triad is the local chapter of the international movement to teach children life skills through golf.

The First Tee of the Triad is proud to open new learning centers at Gillespie Park in Greensboro and Winston Lake in Winston-Salem. Students will have access to learning center classes focusing on golf skills, the rules of golf, ACT college readiness assessment test preparatory sessions and health habits. In addition, for the third year, both Winston Lake and Gillespie Park will offer girls-only classes on Saturdays starting this month. A complete list of spring programs and an informative parent manual are both available at www.thefirstteetriad.org.
“Spring is always an exciting time for us because after all our winter planning, our staff is eager to get started on a new year teaching kids life skills through golf,” The First Tee of the Triad CEO Mike Barber said. “We’re looking forward to seeing our new learning centers in action, and I think we’ve planned some excellent programming for 2017; we can’t wait to get started. With 17 locations throughout our region, we are now more accessible than ever, and we hope to fill all of our spring classes so we can help as many kids as possible – that’s why we love what we do at The First Tee of the Triad.”

Spring classes begin the week of March 27 at The First Tee of the Triad locations throughout the Piedmont Triad; weekday classes begin at 4:30 and end at 6 p.m. Classes run eight weeks, but a ninth week could be added if necessary for weather-related make-ups. Eagle classes will last 10 weeks. After-school programming is $75 for the session, and scholarships are available.

All participants, new or returning, are required to register for classes in order to guarantee their spaces.
