Game Report on Southwest Guilford-East Forsyth Boys Basketball:Martin, Kam Langley, Keyshaun Langley and Cunningham help send Cowboys to the Friday Night Finals

Southwest Guilford 84, East Forsyth 64

The first Semi-final match-up of the final Piedmont Triad 4A Conference as it is currently situated pitted the East Forsyth Eagles against the Conference Champions Southwest Guilford Cowboys.

The Eagles managed to defeat the Ragsdale Tigers last night in their third battle this season to earn a berth in tonight’s match-up. Southwest managed to sweep the regular season contests, but they were not easy by any means. The Eagles utilized every style of defense except the kitchen sink in an attempt to slow down the uptempo Cowboys. But both match-ups took a similar tone with the second half being when the Southwest tempo took control and the Cowboys pulled away in victories.

The Eagles are looking to exact some revenge on the Cowboys, as well as keep the momentum from last night going into the State Playoffs next week. The opening quarter was a sloppy frame. The Eagles scored first taking a 2-0 lead but the Cowboys responded with six street points to lead 6-2 at the 6:01 mark. The teams traded baskets and runs as well as turnovers, and the Eagles tied the game up at 10 a piece at the 1:50 mark. That last part of the frame was just as sloppy as the teams traded one more basket each and it closed at 12-12.

Southwest came out in the second quarter with a 7–0 run to go up 19-12 by the 4:40 mark. The game was sloppy, ugly with no rhythm on either side of the ball. Despite that Southwest managed to keep the Eagles at arms length as the half closed at 28–23.

The third-quarter prove to be the signature frame for the Cowboys as they began to assert themselves on both sides of the floor and find a good rhythm. By midway through the frame the lead was up to 49-34, and the Cowboys used a 6-0 spurt to close the border to take us to 62-43.

Southwest continue to control the tempo and scoring in the final frame which allowed the Cowboys bench to close out the game for the 84-64 victory.

The Eagles were led by Jordan Roberson with 21 points. The Cowboys were led by; Christian Martin with (18, 2 Rebs, Ast, Blk, Stl), Keyshaun Langley with (17, 6 Asts, 4 Rebs, 2 Stls), Kameron Langley with (17, 6 Asts, 6 Rebs, 3 Stls), and Cooper Cunningham with (12, 3 Asts, 3 Rebs). The Cowboys advance to the Piedmont Triad 4A Conference Tournament championship game on Friday night.
