Greensboro College Announces 2017 Hall of Fame Class

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College Department of Athletics will induct four individuals and one team into its 2017 Hall of Fame class, the department announced Wednesday.

The class includes Jim Radford ’70 (men’s basketball), Torrey Lowe ’08 (football), Alexandra Cooke Fulcher ’10 (women’s swimming), Dr. Jim Kramer (team physician), and the 2011 national-champion men’s golf team.

The inductees will be recognized during a ceremony on April 8 in conjunction with Greensboro College’s Alumni Weekend festivities.

Jim Radford – Men’s Basketball

Jim Radford, from Raleigh, N.C., was a member of the Greensboro College men’s team during the 1966-1970 seasons. Radford finished his career with his name all over the men’s basketball record books. Radford is currently ranked second in scoring with 1,490 points, while also holding career spots in scoring average (16.3), field goals made (558), and free throws made (384). Radford also ranks atop the single-season record books in free throws made (128), while holding two other spots in the Top 10. In addition to his Greensboro College records, Radford was also named to the Dixie Athletic Conference All-Conference second team and was a member of the 1968 regular-season championship team.

Torrey Lowe – Football

Torrey Lowe, a native of Southern Pines, N.C., was a member of the Greensboro College football team from 2005 to 2008. Lowe completed his Greensboro College career as one of the most decorated Pride football players in program history. Lowe was a three-time first-team USA South All-Conference selection, earning second-team honors in 2008. In addition to his all-conference selections, Lowe earned Rookie of the Year honors in 2005 before being named a Football Gazette Preseason Honorable Mention All-American in 2008. Lowe holds 13 spots in the Greensboro College records, including touchdowns scored, all-purpose yards, and kick-return yards.

Alexandra Cooke Fulcher – Women’s Swimming

Alexandra Fulcher, a native of High Point, N.C., was a member of the Greensboro College swimming team from 2006 to 2010. Fulcher graduated from Greensboro College as the Pride’s first swimmer to qualify for the NCAA Division III national tournament in a swimming event. Fulcher was also named Atlantic State Swimmer of the Year three times, while also earning Greensboro College’s Fred Joseph Award in 2008. In 2009, Fulcher received Honorable Mention All-America accolades. After becoming the Pride’s first swimmer to make the national tournament, Fulcher placed 16th in the 100-yard backstroke.

Dr. Jim Kramer – Team Physician

Dr. Jim Kramer has been part of the Greensboro College athletics family for more than two decades. Kramer started as the Pride’s team physician in 1993. Kramer started out in the Greensboro College health office prior to transitioning into the role of medical director, where he oversaw the Pride’s athletic trainers and student athletes. In addition to his role at Greensboro College, Kramer also serves the Greensboro community as the team physician for the Greensboro Grasshoppers, Greensboro Day School, and Dudley High School.

2011 Men’s Golf National Championship Team

The 2011 men’s golf team became the second program in Greensboro College to win a national championship. After finishing the national championship, the Pride’s Kirk Mitchell and Ben Nihart received second-team All-America honors and Brock Elder was named to the first team. In addition to their national championship, the Pride recorded a team victory in the Golfweek Fall Invitational to open the season. In the Pride’s 10 tournaments, Greensboro recorded nine individual Top 5 finishes and 15 Top 10 finishes. The Pride also finished with a team scoring average of 295.7 after 26 rounds.
