College Women’s Lacrosse Final – Meredith 14, Guilford 7

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Carlee Joseph scored five goals and an assist In Meredith College’s 14-7 women’s lacrosse win at Guilford College Wednesday night.

Joseph scored three first-half goals, which helped the Avenging Angels open a commanding 9-1 lead. Holly Hite netted two scores in a 4-0 opening run before Demming Carlow got the Quakers on the board 16:45 before halftime. Joseph answered with consecutive scores and Maria Codispotti and Hite added man-up goals in a 5-0 Meredith run. Madison Iandoli and Summer Fowler scored before the break to make it a 9-3 game.

The Quakers (0-2) came out stronger in the second half, but could not draw closer than a six-goal deficit. Meredith’s Molly Miller helped fuel the Angels’ second-half attack with three assists, two to Joseph.

Meredith outshot the Quakers, 33-17, and held a 16-7 edge in draw controls. Hite finished with three goals and Jennifer Halvorson added two off the bench.

Rookie Madison Iandoli led Guilford’s offense with three goals, two in the second half. Amanda Dionne contributed three assists. Senior goalie Sammi Milbourn made 11 stops and picked up a team-high four ground balls.

Coach Sarah Lamphier’s Quakers host nationally ranked University of Mary Washington March 8 at 3:30 p.m.
