KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Heather Munro recorded three of her four birdies over her final nine holes to lead the Elon University women’s golf team on day one of the 2017 Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic on Sunday.
Munro’s performance has helped the Phoenix to a tie for 12th in the field of 43 teams following one round of action.
The Highlights
Munro began her day on the back nine with a bogey, but quickly got that stroke back with a birdie on number 11. After seven consecutive pars, Munro birdied both number one and number two. She carded a bogey on number three, but came back with a birdie on number four to move to two-under. Munro would bogey number six before concluding her round with three straight pars. She ended the day in a tie for 10th out of the 232 participants.
Aurelia Hamm finished her round with five birdies, including two on her final three holes, to finish at two-over for the day. She will begin Monday’s round two in a tie for 34th.
In a tie for 78th is Hilda Kristjansdottir who had one birdie during her round of 77.
Anali Otazo Rodas is tied for 121st, while Kelsey Badmaev ended the day tied for 141st.
