Locals getting it done for Local College Basketball Teams:Guilford’s Gore(NWG), Curry(NG), Abraham(Dudley) and Baldwin(HPCA/UNCG) good to go

The local high school players are really stepping it up for their local college basketball teams with Jaylen Gore, from Northwest Guilford coming up with 13 points to help lead the Guilford College Quakers to the ODAC Conference Title on Sunday and now on to the NCAA’s for the Quakers and Coach Tom Palumbo….Gore got help from local Marcus Curry, from Northern Guilford, who had 6 points in the Championship Game…Curry(NG) is averaging 9.6 points per game on the season…Gore is now a starter, as a freshman for the Quakers, and he is averaging 5.6 points per game this season….

Essence Abraham(Dudley High School) is averaging 5.5 points per game for the Quaker women and they are also headed to the NCAA’s and Guilford will be hosting two NCAA Women’s games this weekend….Guilford men on the road and the women at home and both Quaker teams in the NCAA’s and that is outstanding and they are led by locals, like Jaylen Gore, a former Northwest Guilford Viking for Coach Lee Reavis, Marcus Curry, a former Northern Guilford Nighthawk, coached by Bill Chambers, and Essence Abraham, a former Dudley Panther, coached back then by Frank McNeil…..

Diante Baldwin has been doing great things for the UNCG Spartan men and Baldwin attended Western Guilford High School and High Point Christian Academy here locally….Baldwin is averaging 13.1 points per game and he leads the Spartans in assists….Baldwin is hoping to lead UNCG to the SoCon Tournament title and into the NCAA’s…UNCG has already won/claimed the SoCon regular season title…Also with UNCG, but looks like he is redshirting this season is Kylia Sykes, originally from North Carolina and spent his freshman year at Page High School…..

How ’bout them locals and their input with the local teams…They stay local and buy local and Coach Jackson told me over at Guilford College back in 1964 and it is still true today, “You are loco and you must stay loco”…..And I think Coach Jackson meant “Stay Local” and help out the locals and I think he was right…..

*****Jaylen Gore (NWG) had his top 2 scoring games of the season during the tournament. He’s been playing significant minutes all season and has been in the starting lineup for most of the season.*****

Way to go Jaylen!
