Elon Women’s Track & Field: Personal Records Shine on Day Two at ECAC Indoor Championships

BOSTON, Mass. – The Elon University women’s track and field team saw several of its individual athletes and its 4×400-meter relay team set new personal-records on the Phoenix’s second day of competition at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division I Indoor Championships on Saturday, March 4, inside the Boston University Tennis and Track Center.

RESULTS

After two days, the Phoenix currently sit tied for third overall at the ECAC Indoor Championships with 15 points through six events. Fellow Colonial Athletic Association foe William & Mary also has 15 points as Albany leads the meet with 32 points followed by Liberty in second with 26.

Rookie Melissa Anastasakis clocked a time of 4:51.26 in the preliminary round of the one-mile run, finishing ninth. The Hillsdale, Ontario, native set a new personal-record in the race with the second-fastest time in school history.

In the 5,000-meter run, Coralea Geraniotis clocked a new personal-best time of 16:45.38 in the race and was fourth. Senior Shelby Cuddeback was fifth with her new personal-record time of 16:47.59. Geraniotis’ and Cuddeback’s times are now the second and third-best performances in school history, respectively.

The Phoenix 4×400-meter relay team of Desiree Ross, Katie Arbogast, Lydia Laws and Lauren Brzozowski set a new personal-best time as a quartet with a preliminary time of 3:46.98. Emily Dixon just missed on a her personal-best in the preliminary round of the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.88.

Senior Briana O’Grady tied her personal-best in the weight throw as the South Kingstown, R.I, native had a toss of 53’ 3.75” (16.25m). She was 23rd overall in the event.

The third and final day of the meet concludes tomorrow with events beginning at 9:30 a.m.
