Elon Track and Field Earns Top-10 Finish at ECAC Indoor Championships

BOSTON, Mass. – The Elon University track and field team closed out its stay at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division I Indoor Championships with a top-10 finish as the Phoenix concluded the meet on Sunday, March 5, inside the Boston University Tennis and Track Center.

FINAL RESULTS

Elon was ninth overall at the meet with 23 points, its highest finish ever at the meet. Albany won the meet with 62 total points while James Madison was the highest ranked team from the Colonial Athletic Association with 46 points and in fourth. William & Mary edged out the Phoenix for eighth with 28 points.

The maroon and gold had a pair of top-six marks in the shot put. Bre’anna Warren was fifth in the competition with her heave of 45’ 7.75” (13.91m) while Bryanna Hames was not far behind at 45’ 7.25” (13.90m) in sixth.

In the finals of the one-mile run, freshman Melissa Anastasakis finished eighth overall with her time of 4:57.01 in the race. The Phoenix also saw its distance medley relay squad of Shelby Cuddeback, Katie Arbogast, Chelsea Smith and Sophia Tasselmyer run the third-fastest performance in school history at 12:15.27.

Carrie Abraham was Elon’s top finisher in the triple jump with her mark of 38’ 11” (11.86). Fellow senior Jayna Coyle had a leap of 37’ 4.5” (11.39m).

Elon opens its outdoor campaign at the High Point Invitational on March 17.
