WOMEN’S RESULTS
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Visiting Randolph-Macon College remained perfect in 2017 with a 9-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women’s tennis victory at Guilford College Saturday. The yellow Jackets (5-0, 3-0 ODAC) captured all three doubles contests and won five of six singles contests in straight sets.
Caitlin Delmas and Toni McDonald teamed for an 8-1 win over the Quakers’ Katie Claggett and Leigh Fishman at first doubles. Guilford’s Nora Prokosch and Chandler MacDonald kept the second-doubles tilt close, before Randolph-Macon’s Molly Jesseman and Melissa Tomlin pulled away for an 8-4 triumph. Landon Aud and Stephanie Yeager took an 8-0 decision at third doubles from Guilford’s Makayla McLaurin and Alex Giddens.
Delmas needed a 10-7 pro set to finish off Guilford’s Claggett at first singles. The Quakers’ sophomore took the opening game, 6-2, before Delmas won game two, 6-0. Tomlin, Jesseman and McDonald posted 6-0, 6-0 wins at third, fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
Coach Dave McCain’s Quakers (1-6, 0-4 ODAC) host league-rival Shenandoah University next Saturday (3/18) at 1:00 p.m. on the McMichael Centennial Class Courts.

MEN’S RESULTS
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Mesa Martorell moved up from second to first singles and clinched Guilford College’s 5-4 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men’s tennis match over visiting Randolph-Macon College Saturday on the McMichael Centennial Class Courts. Martorell filled in for missing number-one player Tate Godwin and delivered a 6-3, 6-4 win over the Yellow Jackets’ Jacob Haines that decided the outcome.
Guilford took a 2-1 lead after doubles play thanks to Martorell and Jon-Anthony Thomas’ 8-6 first-doubles win over Grant Sarver and Baxter Carver. Graham Pearson and Chasen Chacon dispatched of Randolph-Macon’s Alex Curnow and Stuart McCroskey at number-two doubles, 8-1. Haines teamed with Pablo Bordas for an 8-6 win at third doubles over the Quakers’ Levi Bruff and Mason Church.
Despite also missing third-singles specialist Aaron Smedley, Guilford claimed three of the six singles points to pull out the win. Thomas climbed two spots above his typical flight and downed Randolph-Macon’s Carter, 6-2, 6-4. Bruff captured his fourth-singles bout, 6-0, 6-3, over Randolph-Macon’s Curnow.
Randolph-Macon’s Bordas was the Yellow Jackets’ lone two-time winner as he narrowly defeated Mark Wasilewski at sixth singles, 6-4, 6-4. Randolph-Macon drops to 2-2 (1-1 ODAC).
