RICHMOND, Va. – The Elon University women’s tennis duo of Erica Braschi and Olivia Lucas were named the Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday, March 14.
Braschi and Lucas were tabbed as the CAA women’s Doubles Team of the Week after going 3-0 at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles in Elon’s 2-1 week.
They clinched the doubles point in a 5-0 victory over North Carolina Central by beating Jasmine Gabriel and Tamara Jeremic, 6-2. In a 6-1 team triumph against Washington & Lee, Braschi and Lucas topped the Generals’ Michelle Fleenor and Hannah Archer, 6-3, for Elon’s only doubles victory. They were also the only victorious Phoenix doubles team in a 5-2 setback to Winthrop, beating Alya Mourad and Aida Kelic, 6-0.
This season, Braschi and Lucas own a team-best 10-4 record and have won three straight doubles matches. The duo is also 6-3 in doubles play over the last 10 matches. They have been key in helping the Phoenix win the doubles point 10 times this year.
Elon returns to the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center on Thursday, March 16, to host Barton College at 2 p.m.
