RICHMOND, Va. – Junior thrower Bryanna Hames of the Elon University women’s track and field team was named the Colonial Athletic Association’s Field Athlete of the Week as released by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon, March 21.
Hames shared league weekly honors with Ksenia Safonova of Towson after Charlotte, N.C., native had some impressive performances in the Phoenix’s outdoor season opener at the Bob Davidson Spring Kickoff last Friday and Saturday. Hames broke her own school-record in the shot put as she had a heave of 47’ 6.5” (14.49m) and was the runner-up overall. She later won the discus throw at the meet with her toss of 158’ 0” (48.15m) and ranks first so far in the league rankings in both events.
Elon is back at competition this weekend at the Raleigh Relays on Friday and Saturday, March 24-25.
