HPU Track and Field Finishes Action at Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C.—The High Point University women’s track and field team finished action at the Raleigh Relays Saturday (March 25) in Raleigh, N.C.

In the 800 meters, sophomore Keaton Case placed fourth in a big personal-best time of 2:09.43, which is the best time in the Big South Conference this season. Case becomes just the second Panther to break the 2:10 mark in the 800, joining school-record holder Jemissa Hess in 2005 (2:08.65).

“Keaton is on a roll these last few weeks,” HPU assistant coach Nate Thiesfeld said. “She came in with a plan and executed it almost perfectly. This race set her up well for championship racing.”

Senior Jamie Schnuck finished 16th in the hammer throw with a mark of 50.07m (164-3).

In the 400 meters, sophomore Emmy Geis recorded a time of 1:04.45, just off her season-best, while junior CeAnna Soper posted a time of 1:05.54. Soper also placed 16th in the javelin with a mark of

Freshman Ariel Wilbeken was just off her season-best mark in the triple jump, with a leap of 11.21m (36-9.5).

Next up, the Panthers will host the annual VertKlasse Meeting March 31-April 1 at Vert Stadium.
