Clemson replaces Greensboro College at the Soup Bowl

Guilford Football to Replace Greensboro College with Clemson University in the Annual Soup Bowl….

In a somewhat shocking turn of events, Guilford College’s athletic department announced that the football program will playing against the Clemson University Tigers next season in the Soup Bowl, replacing Greensboro College in the process..

This decision is just one of a series of moves by Guilford Quakers football in an effort of making their out of conference schedule more challenging, which would hopefully catch the eye of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference…

Clemson University football is coming off of 12-1 2016-17 campaign that finished with a 35-31 victory over the, then undefeated, Alabama University Crimson Tide in the 2017 College Football Playoff National Championship game…

McManus was able to grab a quote from the Clemson Tigers’ head football coach Dabo Swinney and captured his opinion on playing Guilford in the big Soup Bowl for the first time….

Swinney paused for a second and then exclaimed, “I’m not so sure what you are askin’ me boy”, said Swinney…”But I know I tell my boys that when I was there age my momma would make me a big ole bowl of soup before each one of my games with peas, chicken, Guilford, pigs feet, pinto beans, you know, all the fixings, and that would give me more strength and power in crunch time than a rooster on day lights savings….

McManus goes on to tell us in his article that Clemson University will not be the only new addition to Guilford’s 2017-2018 schedule as it is rumored that the football program is in talks with Blue Mountain State Mountain Goats, Dillon High School Panthers and surprisingly, the Cleveland Browns…
