Elon’s Badmaev Named CAA Woman Golfer of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – Following her performance at the 2017 Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate, Elon senior women’s golfer Kelsey Badmaev was recognized as the CAA Women’s Golfer of the Week on Wednesday, April 5. This marks the sixth time that Badmaev has collected CAA Golfer of the Week accolades in her career and the seventh time that she has been a league golfer of the week.

Badmaev, who also earned CAA Golfer of the Week honors in September, picked up her first award of the spring after placing third at the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate. The Blythewood, S.C., native followed up her opening round 75 with a season-low round of 70 to climb from 10th place to third in the individual standings as she helped the Phoenix to a fourth-place standing. The third-place finish marked her third top-five showing and fourth top-10 finish this year.

Over the course of her career, Badmaev has now earned nine top-five and 17 top-10 finishes in 37 tournaments.

Badmaev and the Phoenix squad will next be on the links at the CAA Championship in Williamsburg, Va. The league showcase begins on April 14.
