High Point WLAX Claims Ninth-Straight, Defeats Longwood, 19-8

• High Point won its ninth-consecutive game, tied for the second-longest win streak in school history and is currently tied for the second-longest streak in NCAA Division I
• Senior Samantha Brown and junior Erin Ilchuk each tallied four goals and an assist
• Freshman Ashley Britton tied the school record for draw controls in a game with seven

HIGH POINT, N.C.—The High Point University women’s lacrosse team won its ninth-consecutive win, defeating Longwood, 19-8, Saturday afternoon (April 8) at Vert Stadium in High Point.

With the win, the Panthers (9-3, 3-0 Big South) matched the second-longest winning streak in school history and will have a chance to tie the record Wednesday (April 12) at Radford. HPU’s nine-game winning streak is tied for the second-longest in NCAA Division I.

High Point led the Lancers (5-8, 0-3 Big South) in shots, 39-17, draw controls, 22-6, and held a slight edge in ground balls, 22-21.

“I think the most impressive part for me today was seeing the girls work together,” HPU head coach Lyndsey Boswell said. “We had some very unselfish play from our upperclassman and I’m most proud of that.”

Longwood scored the first two goals, but High Point went on to score the next 13 tallies to break open the game. The Panthers held the Lancers scoreless for 24:32 during the run.

Senior Samantha Brown and junior Erin Ilchuk each tallied four goals and an assist, while junior Erica Perrotta had a goal and four assists. Sophomore Emory Gaeng recorded her third-consecutive hat trick while adding an assist. Twelve Panthers had at least one point.

Freshman Ashley Britton tied the school record for draw controls in a game with seven. She also added a season-high four caused turnovers and three ground balls.

Freshman Jill Rall made four saves to move to 8-0 on the season in the cage.

The Panthers will look for their 10th-straight win Wednesday at Radford. First draw in Radford, Va., is set for 4 p.m.
