Elon’s Johansen Shares CAA Track Athlete of the Week Honors

RICHMOND, Va. – After breaking her own school-record in the 800-meters over the weekend, senior Kimberly Johansen of the Elon University women’s track and field team was selected as the Colonial Athletic Association Co-Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, April 11, by the league office.

Johansen clocked a time of 2:08.41 in the 800-meters at the Tiger Track Classic at Auburn University on Saturday, April 8. The Chelmsford, England, native was the runner-up in the race and bested her previous personal and school-record mark by two seconds. Johansen’s time ranks first on the CAA outdoor rankings in the 800-meters.

Johansen shared the league’s weekly track honor with Meredith Willis of James Madison. This is the third time this season that Elon has had an athlete earn a CAA weekly award. Bryanna Hames was named the league’s Co-Field Athlete on March 21 and March 28.

Elon is back in competition this Saturday, April 15, hosting its annual home meet, the Phoenix Invitational.
