Glenn Falls in Extra Inning Classic
Tournament host South Johnston, winners of ten consecutive games, defeated Glenn 3-2 in ten innings in the championship game of the Johnston County Easter Baseball Invitational at South Johnston High School Tuesday Night.
Trailing 2-1 entering the seventh inning Glenn (11-7) rallied to force extra innings. After a Kier Meredith single and stolen base started the seventh inning , Jordan Ward’s two-out RBI single tied the game for Glenn and forced extra frames.
Jack Raynor’s walk-off double in the bottom of the tenth inning proved to be the difference giving tournament host South Johnston the 2017 championship.
Gavin Tippitt and Drew Tiano each finished 2-for-4 for Glenn while freshmen pitchers Jarrett Hodges and Duncan Howard shined on the mound by combining to hold South Johnston to one earned run for the contest.
