HPU WLAX Wins 10th-Straight, Defeats Radford, 19-5

• The Panthers have won 10 games in a row, matching a streak from 2014 for the longest in school history
• High Point’s 10-game win streak is the second-longest streak in NCAA Division I
• HPU matched a school record for shots in a game with 43

RADFORD, Va.—The High Point University women’s lacrosse team won its 10th-consecutive game, defeating Radford, 19-5, Wednesday afternoon (April 12) at Cupp Stadium in Radford, Va.

The 10 wins in a row matches the school record for the Panthers, set in 2014, and is the second-longest active streak in NCAA Division I women’s lacrosse.

The Panthers (10-3, 4-0 Big South) tied a school record shots in a game with 43 compared to 13 for the Highlanders (5-8, 1-3 Big South) and led in ground balls, 31-12, and draw controls, 16-10.

“I saw some really good leadership today,” HPU head coach Lyndsey Boswell said. “I’m excited about where we are as a team and I feel like we are getting better every day. I’m also excited to be undefeated in conference play and on this 10-game win streak.”

Junior Brooke Stevens led the Panthers with six points on two goals and four assists, while sophomore Emory Gaeng added two goals and three assists for five points. Freshman

Ashley Britton had five key draw controls while also posting two goals and two assists. She now has 44 draw controls on the year and has moved up to third on the HPU single-season list.

Three more Panthers added three points each, including senior Samantha Brown (3 goals), junior Darla Poulin (3 goals) and freshman Allie Little (2 goals, 1 assist).

High Point scored the first three goals of the game before the Highlanders tallied two goals in quick succession to cut the lead to 3-2, but the Panthers then went on a 10-0 run and held Radford scoreless for 23:56 to break open the game.

Next up, the Panthers play at Liberty on Saturday (April 15). First draw in Lynchburg, Va., is scheduled for 2 p.m.
