Elon Phoenix in Sixth; Day Two Suspended at CAA Men’s Golf Championships

MIDLOTHIAN, Va. – The Elon University men’s golf team completed the second round and part of the third before play was suspended due to inclement weather on the second day of the 2017 CAA Men’s Golf Championships on Saturday, April 22, at Salisbury Country Club.

ROUND TWO RESULTS | ROUND THREE SCORES

Play was suspended due to inclement weather in the middle of the third round. The course will be evaluated in the morning. If cleared, the third round will resume at approximately 9 a.m. on Sunday. All third round scores to this point remain unofficial, unless the third round is completed.

Elon bettered its first round total by 10 strokes posting a 281 and has three individuals in the top-25 after round two. The Phoenix currently stands in sixth. Three-time defending CAA Champion College of Charleston leads the tournament by six strokes after two rounds.

THE HIGHLIGHTS
After 36 holes, Jake Leavitt remains in the top-10 among individuals after carding his second consecutive round of two-under par. He is currently one stroke outside of the top-five.

William Hardwood posted a stellar second round for the Phoenix. He posted a team-low five under-par 67 and moved up 18 spots into a tie for 12th place with Jared Mactas. Mactas carded a two under-par 70 in the second round to move into a tie for 12th individually. Both players are just three strokes away from the top-five on the leaderboard.

Philip Loeb is currently in a tie for 36th individually Charlie May is in 40th place after both posted a two-over 74 in the second round.

UP NEXT
The Phoenix will look to complete the third round of the 2017 CAA Championships on Sunday, April 23, at the Salisbury Country Club in Midlothian, Va. If play is approved, the third round will continue tomorrow morning.
