College Women’s Lacrosse Final – Shenandoah 15, Guilford 4

WINCHESTER, Va. – Annie McCorry scored a game-high five goals in Shenandoah University’s 15-4 Old Dominion Athletic Conference lacrosse win over visiting Guilford College. The Hornets’ victory clinched the sixth and final spot in the upcoming ODAC Tournament, and ended the Quakers’ season with a 6-10 overall record (3-5 ODAC).

Shenandoah (6-10, 3-5 ODAC) won 20 of the game’s 22 draws controls, which enabled the Hornets to control possession for most of the game. The hosts enjoyed a 39-11 edge in shots and scored on five-of-10 free-position opportunities.
After Guilford’s Demming Carlow opened the scoring with a free-position goal less than two minutes into the game, Shenandoah (6-10, 3-5 ODAC) netted four straight scores in a four-and-half minute span. McCorry tallied twice during the run, which opened a 4-1 Hornets’ lead with just under 18 minutes left in the first half.

Carlow scored her second goal of the day 92 seconds later, but the Hornets closed the half with three unanswered goals for a 7-2 halftime lead. Jordyn Miller and McCorry started the second-half scoring with goals 17 seconds apart that swelled Shenandoah’s advantage to 9-2 with 26:28 left in regulation.

Summer Fowler scored for Guilford, which made it a 9-3 game, but Shenandoah responded with four goals in just over a two-minute span that put the contest out of reach. Brittany Arndt scored twice and McCorry added her fourth goal of the game.

McCorry added five ground balls and three draws to her five goals. Arndt picked up a game-best nine draw controls, and also chipped in three goals and an assist. Jacque Hemler contributed two scores and seven draws. Goalie Kiera Lane played all 60 minutes and made two saves against just six shots on goal.

Guilford goalie Sammi Milbourn made 15 saves and picked up a game-high six ground balls in her final college contest. Holly Kozak scored the Quakers’ fourth and final goal.
