This years winners are:
Gracey Albright(Page High School)
Kyle Blendinger(Southwest Guilford High School)
Caleb Kennedy(Eastern Guilford High School)
and Ashton Pegram(Southeast Guilford High School)

Gracey Albright
Gracey is graduating from Page High School with a 5.2 GPA and a 30 on the ACT. She is 13th in her class of 491 students. She is a member of the National Honor Society, National Mathematics Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Editor of the Key Club and an All-American Scholar Athlete. During her softball career at Page, she was selected as All-Conference, All-District, All-Area and All-State. During the last three seasons she was the Team Captain and MVP. She has volunteered over 200 hours of her time with various charities. Gracey will attend Furman University, where she plans on playing softball and pursuing a career as a pharmacist.

Kyle Blendinger
Kyle is graduating from Southwest Guilford High School with a 4.81 GPA and a 1230 on the SAT. He is 23rd in his class out of 363 students. He is a member of the National Honors Society and the National Mathematics Honor Society. During his baseball career at Southwest, he was selected as All-Conference, All-Area, All-State, Wendy’s HS Heisman and Rawlings HS All American. Kyle has volunteered over 150 hours assisting various charities. Kyle will attend UNC Chapel Hill, where he will play baseball and plans on majoring in Exercise & Sports Science.

Caleb Kennedy
Caleb is graduating from Eastern Guilford High School with a 4.23 GPA and a 1370 on the SAT. He is 9th in his class out of 276 students. He is a member of the National Honors Society, National Beta Club and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. During his baseball career at Eastern, he was selected All-Conference, Academic All-Conference, Team Captain and Team MVP. Caleb has volunteered over 100 hours of his time with various charities in the community. Caleb will attend NC State University and plans on majoring in either Law or Business.

Ashton Pegram
Ashton is graduating from Southeast Guilford High School with a 4.96 GPA and a 1210 on the SAT. She is 8th in her class out of 296 students. She is the Historian of her National Honor Society, a member of the National Technical Honors Society and part of the Student Ambassadors. During her softball career at Southeast HS, she was selected as All-Conference, All-District and All-State. Ashton has volunteered over 300 hours of her time with various charities. Ashton will attend Barton College, where she has received a softball scholarship and plans on pursuing a career in the medical field.

*****Established by the Greensboro Bats/Greensboro Grasshoppers in August 2002, the Charlie Harville Memorial Scholarship was created to honor the memory of Charlie Harville, a long time sports legend and journalist in Greensboro. Charlie passed away in the winter of 2002, but loved baseball and was a great friend to the Grasshoppers’ organization.

The scholarships will assist recipients to any four-year college or university of their choice and is based on a combination of athletic ability, academic achievement, and community service. It is available to senior baseball or softball players attending Guilford County High Schools that are recommended by their coaches.*****
