Greensboro College Releases 2017 Football Schedule
from Wes Gullett, Greensboro College Sports Information Director

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Greensboro College Head Football Coach Greg Crum released the Pride’s 2017 football schedule Tuesday.

“As the 2017 season approaches, the Pride football family will be celebrating 20 years,” Head Coach Greg Crum said. “The guys are working hard in preparation for the opportunity to compete for a championship within the very tough USA south Athletic Conference. This conference is truly talented and opponents present their own unique challenges.”

“We look to have a strong nucleus of returners to couple with some tremendous new talent, who will put themselves in contention to challenge any team on our schedule. I couldn’t be more excited for the start of the season, and I am truly honored and blessed to be the head football coach for the Greensboro College Pride.”

The Pride will open their 2017 slate on Sept. 2 when they travel to take on the Builders of Newport News Apprentice before traveling to the nation’s capital to take on the Bison of Gallaudet University in week 2.

After their first two games on the road, Greensboro will open their home slate on Sept. 16 when they welcome USA South Athletic Conference newcomer, Brevard College, to Jamieson Stadium. The contest will mark the first ever meeting between the two programs.

Following the brief stay at home, the Pride will continue conference play at Maryville College after a bye week in week 4 of the season.

Greensboro will then host the Monarchs of Methodist University on Oct. 7 for homecoming before taking on North Carolina Wesleyan and LaGrange College on the road.

Over the final three weeks of the season, the Pride will host Huntingdon College and Averett University, while traveling to Ferrum College.

  1. Word is that Greensboro College will also be scrimmaging Hampden-Sydney College on August 26th at Redskin Park in Richmond Virginia.

  2. Still not sure what happened to the SOUP BOWL with Greensboro College vs. Guilford College…

This game has been played for years and is not on this year’s schedule….This game will be missed, it was really a huge part of the sports fabric of our community…

Did not see Greensboro College SID Wes Gullett today, due to the Hoppers’ baseball game being cancelled, but hope to see or hear from him in the next few days and find out what happened to the SOUP BOWL and why it is no longer being played…

The SOUP BOWL will be missed and I hope to begin a campaign soon to have it reinstated if I have to go out and collect all of the cans by myself….

I am saying right here and right now in a sports/positive way,

    “Bring back The SOUP BOWL”….

I like soup and I loved the SOUP BOWL, it was a way to get our local college football up and rolling each season and it really helped out our community….

    *****”Bring back The SOUP BOWL”!!!!!*****

  3. Bring back the Soup Bowl. Best local game of the year on the college level.

    We like Soup.

    Bill Evans and Family

  4. They should try and schedule the Soup Bowl the last game of the year as both teams will be beat up by then and the game may be closer and attract more fans. The last three years have been 193 to 12 ( I believe)in Guilfords favor so I’m sure it was a mutual agreement to not extend the series. Its all about coaching and hopefully Greensboro has a coach that will be able to recruit like Coach R.
