LAKEWOOD, NJ – Daniel Brito homered and Sixto Sanchez gave up two runs over five innings to lead the BlueClaws to a 6-4 win over Greensboro on Thursday night at FirstEnergy Park.

With the win, the BlueClaws (2-6/42-36) worked a split of the four-game series from the Grasshoppers (3-5/40-36).

Trevor Bettencourt through two perfect innings in relief for his fifth save of the season.

The BlueClaws got three runs in the second inning to take a 3-0 lead. Darick Hall scored on a wild pitch to open the scoring. David Martinelli came home when Luke Williams beat a run down between first and second. Then, Williams came home on an RBI double by Enmanuel Garcia.

Greensboro got on the board in the third on an RBI single from Cory Bird to cut the lead to 3-1.

Lakewood opened it back up in the bottom of the fourth on a three-run home run by Daniel Brito. For Brito, it was his fifth home run of the season and Lakewood’s 21st of June – they hit 21 home runs in April and May combined.

Sixto Sanchez (3-2) came out after five innings, allowing two runs with seven strikeouts against just one walk. He earned his third win of the season.

In the sixth, Tyler Hallead took over and gave up a two-run home run to Luis Pinto to cut the BlueClaws lead to 6-4. However, after Hallead threw a scoreless seventh, Bettencourt got the last six outs for the save.

Grasshoppers starter Dylan Lee (3-8) took the loss, allowing six runs on nine hits over five innings.
