GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College football team was picked to finish eighth in the USA South Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, the conference announced Wednesday.

The Pride, under second year head coach Greg Crum, will look to improve on last season’s 1-9 overall mark.

Greensboro returns a strong group from one season ago led by Tolan Jones, Keon Reynolds and Josh Cross. Reynolds and Cross combined for 156 total tackles, three tackles and two forced fumbles last season, while Jones averaged just under 10-yards per carry out of the backfield.

In addition to the returners, Coach Crum and company welcomed a large group of newcomers to the field for Tuesday’s first practice of the season.

“This team has really come together and bought into our process,” Crum said. “This group our guys have a great opportunity to do something special this year.”

Last season’s conference co-champions, Huntingdon College and Maryville College, were picked atop the poll, while N.C. Wesleyan was tabbed to finish in third place.

The Pride will get their 2017 slate underway Saturday, Sept. 2 when they travel to Newport News, Va. to take on the Builders of Newport News Apprentice. For more information on Greensboro College football, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
