Koniaev Wins Gold Singles Title on Final Day of Elon Women’s Tennis Fall Invitational

ELON, N.C. – Alex Koniaev claimed the Gold Singles flight title as the Elon University women’s tennis team completed the final day of the Elon Fall Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 17, at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

HIGHLIGHTS
Koniaev faced Xandra Fougner of UNCW in the Gold Singles flight championship match and won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, to claim the title.

Additionally for the Phoenix, after advancing to the Phoenix singles semifinals, Mia Wallace won her third place match 7-6 (4), 6-2, against Sandra Anglesjo of Appalachian State.

Maria Paraja won her consolation match 4-6, 7-6 (6), 10-6 against Nancy Bridges of UNCG and Sofia Edo earned a victory in her consolation singles match, 6-3, 6-1, against Kaori Terunuma of Longwood in the Powell Singles flight.

In doubles action, Kirsten Ward and Koniaev fell in championship match of the Gold Doubles flight 8-5 against Coastal Carolina duo, Cox and Vardanian.
