GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College women’s soccer team topped the Saints of Marymount University Wednesday, 2-0.

After failing to capitalize on some opportunities in the first few minutes of the contest, Greensboro broke the deadlock with a goal in the 14th minute.

Meredith Priest possessed a throw-in from the far left sideline and was able to find the back of the net for her ninth goal of the season.

The score the remained the same for the next 75 minutes until Mercedes Fisher took a feed from Priest and tucked it away for her team-leading 12th goal of the season to secure the two-goal victory.

“Today’s contest was an excellent test for our ladies heading into conference play this weekend,” Assistant Coach Lorenzo Rodriguez said. “Marymount was a tough and scrappy team”.

“Our ladies knew they were going to have to battle for a full 90 minutes and they did just that.”

Greensboro held a 25-9 advantage in the shot category, while also holding a 13-4 advantage in shots on goal. Brittany Morrison recorded her fourth shutout of the season in goal for the Pride after tallying four saves.

The Pride women will return to action at 2:30 p.m. Saturday when they travel to Meredith College to open USA South Athletic Conference play. For more information on Greensboro College women’s soccer, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
