CHARLOTTE, N.C. — High Point University women’s cross country freshman Famke Heinst has been named the Big South Women’s Runner of the Week for the second time this season, the conference announced Wednesday (Sept. 20).
Heinst won the Big South Preview in Lynchburg, Va., on Sept. 16 with a winning 5K time of 18:41.2, more than five seconds faster than second place. It was Heinst’s first career collegiate win in two starts for the Panthers. She finished second at the Elon Opener in her debut.
It is the second weekly conference award of her career.
The Panthers return to action Sept. 23 for the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational in Earlysville, Va.
