Elon Women’s Golf: Munro Tied for BC Intercollegiate Lead After Two Rounds

CANTON, Mass. – Led by Heather Munro’s even-par, the Elon University women’s golf team sits fourth following the first two rounds of the 16-team Boston College Intercollegiate field. Munro’s performance has her tied for the individual lead with one round to play.

The Phoenix carded rounds of 306 and 302 during Saturday’s 36 holes of play.

The Highlights
Munro, who shares the individual lead with Boston College’s Bibilani Liu at 144, began her day on hole number three of the par-72 Championship Course at the Blue Hill Country Club. She was two-over after six holes before getting a stroke back with a birdie on the par-five number nine. With five holes remaining in her first round, Munro was again at two-over, but she would alternate birdies and bogeys over the final five holes to end the round with a one-over 73. She began her second 18 holes with eight straight pars before back-to-back birdies on holes 11 and 12 got her to two-under. After giving two shots back with a pair of bogeys before recording one final par on number 18 and two more pars to end the round at one-under.

Hilda Kristjansdottir ended the day in a tie for 13th in the 87-player field after finishing at a six-over 150. Kristjansdottir stood at even par after her first 11 holes of round one before ending the round with a one-over 73. She would birdie two of her final five holes of the first 18 of the day. In round two, Kristjansdottir was one-under through six holes before finishing at five-over for the round.

In a tie for 33rd is Adel Vadkerti who carded a 155 on the day. Vadkerti began the day with a seven-over before bouncing back to finish her final 18 holes with a four-over 76.

Katherine Reilly wrapped up day one in a tie for 56th with a mark of 159. She had two birdies on the day, both coming during the second round of the day. She is followed by Haley Bookholdt who sits in 84th with a score of 173. Her lone birdie came during her first round.

The Phoenix will look to remain near the top of the team standings when the final round of the tournament gets underway on Monday, Sept. 25. The first Phoenix golfer will take to the links at 8:45 a.m.
