GREENSBORO, N.C. – Devin D’Agostin struck first for her 7th goal of the season in the 75th minute as the Greensboro College women’s soccer team shut out the Panthers of Ferrum College Wednesday, 2-0.
Greensboro had opportunities in the first half of the contest to score but was unable to find the back of the net.
D’Agostin took a feed from Meredith Priest and placed it in the top right corner of the goal to record the game’s first goal.
The Panthers then began to push numbers forward before Greensboro struck once again for their second and final goal.
Anna Rae Porcelli scored on a free kick in the 87th minute for her third goal of the season.
“Great win today,” Head Coach Gus Mota said. “We told our players we needed three points today and they set out to do it.
“I am very proud of my girls. It was a team victory today and we are looking forward to practice tomorrow.”
The Pride outshot the Panthers 14-6, while Brittany Morrison had two saves and recorded her fourth shutout of the season.
The Pride women will return to action at 12 p.m. Saturday when they travel to Salem College. The Spirits are currently undefeated at home but the Pride will look to build on their performance today.
