FERRUM, Va. – The Greensboro College men’s soccer team won their sixth consecutive contest Tuesday by defeating the Panthers of Ferrum College, 5-0.

Greensboro struck for the game’s first goal just seven minutes into the contest when Carlos Barragan scored off an assist from Warren Washington.

The Pride then extend their lead to two-goals seven minutes later when Barragan found the foot for Jordy Briceno, who was able to tuck the ball away for his ninth goal of the season.

Following Briceno’s goal, neither team was able to score until Darli Mihindou found the back of the net to give the Pride a 3-0 lead through 45 minutes of action.

The two teams then played to a scoreless draw over the next 22 minutes before Ryan Mule capitalized on an opportunity to push the Greensboro advantage to 4-0.

After extending their lead, the Pride struck one final time in the 72nd minute on a set piece. Jarred Heller placed a corner kick inside the 18-yard box and found the head of Cole Watkins, who was able to put it away for his fourth goal of the season.

“I am happy with the team’s performance today as we had a lot of guys perform well,” Head Coach Tony Falvino said. “It was good to get three points on the road.

“We need to make sure that we build upon this performance as we prepare for Covenant College.”

Greensboro outshot the Panthers 26-4 in the contest, with 14 of those shots being on goal. Jaime Payamps picked up the shutout victory in goal for the Pride, while recording one save.

The Pride men will return to action at 3 p.m. Friday when they host the Scots of Covenant College. For more information on Greensboro College men’s soccer, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
