College Women’s Soccer Final: #22 Lynchburg 2, Guilford 0

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Emily Sanchez and Katie Waring netted first half goals as Lynchburg College defeated visiting Guilford College, 2-0, on Friday night in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference match.

The 22nd-ranked Hornets improved to 14-1 and 7-1 in the ODAC. The Quakers moved to 6-8-1 and 3-5-1.

Sanchez opened the match’s scoring at the 19:00 mark. Georgie Duggan played the ball to the left side of the box and Sanchez shot and finished for her first goal of the season.

LC pushed the margin to 2-0 in the 37th minute. Sarah Barnes delivered a ball over the Guilford defense and Waring headed the ball home. The score remained 2-0 the rest of the way.

Lynchburg had the edge in shots (27-1) and corner kicks (9-2). Morgan Henderson recorded GC’s lone shot.

Cheyenne Grim played all 90 minutes in goal for the Quakers. She recorded 12 saves in the defeat.

Guilford closes the regular season with a home ODAC game vs. Eastern Mennonite on Saturday (10/28). The Senior Day game kicks off at 2 p.m.
