HPU Women’s Lacrosse Announces 2018 Schedule

HIGH POINT, N.C. — High Point University women’s lacrosse head coach Lyndsey Boswell has announced the Panthers’ 2018 schedule, highlighted by three home games against ACC competition.

2018 Schedule

The 2017 Big South Champion Panthers will play nine games inside Vert Stadium along with eight road contests. HPU will face off against four teams that qualified for the 2017 NCAA Tournament, including James Madison and North Carolina, who advanced to the second round, and Elon and Notre Dame.

“I’m looking forward to 2018 with this team,” Boswell said. “We worked hard to put together a schedule that would continue to challenge us, and prepare us for the toughest competition in the country. We have worked hard this fall to reach this teams’ potential come February and we are really excited with where we are right now heading into the end of October.”

High Point will open the season with three-consecutive home games, including Furman (Feb. 10), North Carolina (Feb. 16) and James Madison (Feb. 24).

After away games at Elon on March 1 and Marist on March 10, the Purple & White will host Notre Dame in the first meeting between the two squads since the 2014 NCAA Tournament.

The Panthers have an away game at Old Dominion (March 21) and a home contest against Drexel (March 28) before beginning Big South play at home on March 31 against Radford.

HPU travels Buies Creek to face Big South runner-up Campbell on April 4 before playing three games in four days with Liberty (April 8) and Duke (April 9) at home and Presbyterian (April 11) on the road.

The Panthers’ final home game of the year will be April 14 against Gardner-Webb. HPU finishes the regular season on the road with contests at Winthrop (April 18), Longwood (April 21) and a non-conference game at Hofstra (April 26).

The Big South Tournament first round will be April 28 at the No. 3 and 4 seeds with the top-2 seeds earning byes. The Big South semifinals and final will be held May 3 and 5 at the No. 1 seed.

The Panthers will be looking for their second-consecutive Big South Championship against going undefeated through the conference regular season and tournament slate.

High Point graduated three players from the 2017 squad that went 16-4, including 16 wins in a row and became the first HPU team to win an NCAA Division I Tournament game with a 21-15 victory over Towson. The Panthers have advanced to the NCAA tournament three times under Boswell, who in 2017 was named Big South Coach of the Year for the third time in four years.
