College Men’s Soccer Final: Randolph 2, Guilford 1

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Chris Irigoyen recorded a second half goal and an assist as Randolph College rallied to win at Guilford College, 2-1, on Tuesday night.

The Wildcats improved to 9-8 and 4-5 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Guilford ends its year at 2-16 and 2-7.

GC’s Omar Solis scored in the eighth minute off of a free kick after Randolph goalkeeper Erick Cortez-Martinez handled the ball outside the 18-yard box for a foul. Ricky Aguliar gently touched the ball on the free kick, and Solis drove it home from 19 yards out. The score remained 1-0 at halftime.

At the 64:44 mark, RC evened the score. Adam Watson sent a long free kick toward the goal and Irigoyen headed the ball in for the tally.

Anthony Fonnesu netted the game-winner in the 81st minute. He headed in the ball after a long throw-in from Irigoyen.

Randoph College led in shots (18-9) and corner kicks (11-4).

Prior to the match, the Quakers honored three seniors: Michael McShane, Edgar Solis and Omar Solis.

McShane made four saves for Guilford.
