GREENSBORO, N.C.– The Greensboro College men’s soccer team defeated the Pacers of William Peace University Wednesday, 4-1.

The Pride struck first in the sixth minute when Carlos Barragan crossed the ball to the head of Cole Watkins who placed the ball in the upper part of the goal to give the Pride a 1-0 lead.

Shortly after the Watkins goal, Greensboro pushed back into Pacers territory and emerged with the second goal of the game. William Peace’s goalkeeper blocked a shot from Sam Linker, who then took the rebound and scored.

The Pride took the 2-0 lead into the second half before extending their advantage just six minutes into the second period.

Gerardo Peraza struck for his 10 goal of the season before Barragan scored the Pride’s final goal in the 54th minute.

In the 65th minute, the Pacers scored the game’s final goal despite constant pressure on the Pride’s back line.

“I want to congratulate the guys on a good season,” Head Coach Tony Falvino said. “It was good to finish our last regular season game at home with a victory. I was a little upset we gave up a goal after controlling the game for the most part, but with a lack of concentration, people can punish you at every level. We have to learn from that and make sure it doesn’t happen again.

“Overall it was a good performance and now we just have to see how everything shakes out in the rest of the conference and go from there.”

Jaime Payamps picked up the win in goal for the Pride.
