Fanney Sets School Record at Guilford College’s Women’s Cross Country NCAA Regionals

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Guilford College’s Sommer Fanney posted the school’s fastest all-time six-kilometer finish Saturday as the Quaker women placed 31st with 844 points in the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Cross Country Championships, hosted by Christopher Newport University.

Fanney clocked a time of 23:26.8, besting her own 23:58.80 mark set at the 2016 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships. She was 67th of the 240 runner field. Teammates Samantha Brown (26:48) and Samantha Brooks (27:29) placed 195th and 207th respectively.

Trinity (Texas) win the regional team championship with 80 points, three fewer than second place Emory. Gabrielle Stravach of Emory finished first with a time of 20:59.7.
