Guilford’s Carson Long Earns ODAC Men’s Basketball Weekly Honor

FOREST, Va. – Guilford College’s Carson Long collected the first Old Dominion Athletic Conference’s (ODAC) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Award Monday. The announcement marks the second weekly honor of his career.

Long, a 6-4 forward, averaged 21.3 points thanks to 50 percent field-goal shooting and 9.7 rebounds as Guilford went 2-1 to open the season. He hit for a game and career-high 36 points in the Quakers’ 90-63 win over Huntingdon on Saturday. Long was 13-of-25 shooting, made four 3-pointers and converted all six of his free throws. He added 11 rebounds and a pair of blocked shots on the way to earning a spot on the Daly Seven Tip-Off Classic all-tournament team.

Long tallied 18 points and added 12 rebounds in Guilford’s 98-88 win at Greensboro last Wednesday. On Friday night, he scored ten points and had six boards in a 68-67 defeat to Concordia (Texas).
