College women’s basketball final: Guilford 63, NC Wesleyan 51

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Lauren Ramsey scored a team-high 19 points as Guilford College defeated North Carolina Wesleyan, 63-51, on Tuesday night. The Quakers improved to 2-1 and the Bishops dropped to 1-3 on the season.

Ramsey was 8-of-11 shooting. Teammates Monell Dunlap and Miracle Walters netted 14 and 12 points respectively.

Kechae Parker tallied a game-best 20 points for NCWC. She was 7-of-12 from the field and made 6-of-8 free throws.

Guilford led 30-21 at halftime. The Quakers led the entire game but Bishops made it close in the fourth quarter. Cheria Turrentine made a three-pointer to cut the lead to 51-48 with 4:15 remaining. GC then went on an 8-0 run–aided by two baskets from Dunlap–over the next two minutes and secured the win.

Guilford won the battle of the boards, 44-35. Quaker Jasmine McBride snatched a game-high 10 rebounds for the home club. GC committed 27 turnovers and forced 25 miscues in the contest.

The Quakers return to action at Meredith College on Monday (11/27). Tip-off is 7 p.m.
