+++++No school Friday and now NO basketball games on Friday night…..+++++

Hate we won’t be able to take in that Grimsley at Page game….Lots of excitement last Friday night over at Ben L. Smith High School, for the Smith-Dudley games, and was hoping to follow that night up with another big Rival-Game, this Friday…

Would have been a nice chance to see how far that Grimsley girls team has come since back in December…Just getting to see the tallest girls on the court become the game’s top three-point shooters would be enough to get the blood flowing, on a cold night…

The female bigs would take it outside with Emma Heard(Page HS) and Rebecca Little(Grimsley HS) being the focus of each opposing coaches game plans….When Emma Heard is on, Game-On for Page….Emma has scored 15 points in each of her last two games and there is no reason not to believe that should would have hit for 15-plus on this Friday night…..

Such a smooth outside shot from Emma from outside the arc, and it comes out of her hands quickly…Super-quick release and usually if the her shot is right, “nothing but net”, and that ball comes thorough that net in a hurry…

Rebecca Little is another major Guilford County outside shooting threat and her shot is similar to Emma’s, in regard to the arch….A high-arching shot by Rebecca and from Emma and that is one of the keys to their shots….

Big games from Little and Heard, would have been the word, if Grimsley and Page would have met on Friday night at the Mac Morris Gym….Little has been carrying a big load for Grimsley over the past three seasons and for two of those years, Little was about all Grimsley had, as far as key scoring-threats go….Rebecca has some help this season, with new coach Chris Huntley finding a way to get more Lady Whirlies involved….Cox, Dowtin, Fuqua, Woodburen, Goldman, White, Morgan and there are others that are stepping up….For Page you would also hear from Jillian Heard, Patterson, Robinson, Graves and others….

Looking for those top three-point shooters and you don’t have to go far to find Emma Heard or Rebecca Little….Add in Leana Hunt(Dudley HS), Reagan Kargo/Lindsay Gauldin(Northwest Guilford HS), Kennedi Simmons(Southeast Guilford HS), Nichelle Jeffries(Northeast Guilford HS), Kassie Robakiwicz/Mercedes Wampler(Northern Guilford HS), DJ Jackson(Smith HS), Destinee Davis(Eastern Guilford HS), Ariyah Wheless(Southern High School), Nyah Stallings(Ragsdale HS), Faith Price/Lauren Carter(Southwest Guilford HS) and we have some good ones…..

*****Interesting note:Emma Heard(Page HS) and Rebecca Little(Grimsley HS) are teammates in their school’s off-seasons and they are teammed together on the Greensboro Gaters and are bound to have played for Coach Kristen Shelton, at one time, or aother…*****

The boys game for Friday, with Grimsley at Page, would have gotten the juices flowing too, with Ahmil Flowers, from Grimsley one of the best up-and-coming male players around, plus Devin Resper to get the Whirlies going outside and then when you get to Page; Jahlen King has been warming up, he had 35 points vs. WS Reagan this past Monday, in an MLK Day Game….Trent McIntyre, Terrell Davis, Elijah Short and with a very much-improved elevator rider heading on up, Alex Angus, the Page Pirates have a small, but real quick starting five….Grimsley will have to look toward seniors like Nate Urqhart to give them a positive surge/push…..

Will be looking forward to the makeup date on this one and hope to see you there….

*****Another good game we will miss on Friday, will be the game that was scheduled, with Southwest Guilford at Smith…*****
