Game Report on Northwest Guilford-Grimsley Boys Basketball:Vikings take Metro 4-A Regular Season Title with Win over the Whirlies(Hampton and Reiber with 20-plus nights)

NORTHWEST GUILFORD 70, GRIMSLEY 63
GAME NOTES:
–Northwest Guilford and Grimsley faced off in a Metro 4-A Conference contest that ended with the Vikings holding on for a 70-63 conference win. The Vikings were able to overcome a 2-point 1st quarter deficit to take the lead into the half by a score of 32-28. That 4-point advantage that Northwest held would not hold up as the Whirlies took control of the 3rd quarter and ended up with a 50-47 advantage going into the final frame. The Vikings were able to overcome that deficit and put together some timely buckets and free throws to seal the victory. Northwest finishes the conference schedule at 7-1 and are the outright Metro 4-A Champions for 2017-18.
–Christian Hampton led the Vikings with a double-double of 25 points and 12 rebounds to go along with 5 assists. Dean Reiber also finished with his own double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds in addition to 5 blocks while Tommy Smith took 2 charges that helped swing the tide of the game. Tristan Perry added 12 points, 4 rebounds, 8 assists and 3 steals.
–Grimsley was led by D. Resper and N. Cotton as the both finished with 14 points.
