Greensboro College Men’s Basketball Falls to Covenant On The Road
from GC SID Wes Gullett:

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga.—The Greensboro College men’s basketball team fell to the Scots of Covenant College Friday, 92-80.

The Pride and the Scots traded a couple of baskets over the first five minutes of the contest as Covenant took a 14-13 lead.

Over the remaining 15 minutes of the first half, Greensboro struggled from the field and the Scots took a 49-39 lead going into halftime.

Once the second half commenced, the two teams put up an even 15-15 run to bring the score to 64-54 with 13:13 showing on the clock.

Greensboro began to battle back and their offense fired up a 16-5 run to pull within just eight points of the Scots. Over the course of the run, seniors Cornelius Johnson and Joseph Gatling tallied eight points, while sophomore Darus Maddox put up the remaining two points of the run.

As time expired, the Scots created a run of their own and ran away with the victory.

“Our team fought tonight,” Head Coach Bryan Galuski said. “We didn’t fold when we were down by 18 and a lot of heart came from our players.

“We are taking steps forward as a team and I just hope it’s not too late. The result wasn’t what we wanted but we really competed against a good team on the road.”

Gatling racked up a team-high 21 points, while Johnson finished with 17 points, a team-high seven rebounds and one block. Also finishing in double digits scoring were Maddox (12) and Demetrius Tilley (14). Tilley also dished out a team-high four assists and snagged four steals.

The Pride return to Hanes Gymnasium on Monday at 7:30 p.m. when they host the Monarchs of Methodist University. For more information on Greensboro College men’s basketball, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com
