Elon Baseball’s Ogren Named CAA Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – Following a five-game week in which he hit .421, Elon junior shortstop Ryne Ogren has been selected as the Colonial Athletic Association’s Baseball Player of the Week as named by the league office on Tuesday, Feb. 27. This is the first CAA Player of the Week honor of Ogren’s career.

Ogren was 8-for-19 at the plate and picked up nine RBI in the Phoenix’s five games last week. The Devon, Pa., native had at least one hit in each contest and drove in multiple runs in three of them. His best outing came against Big 12 foe Kansas State when he was 3-for-4 with four RBI. Ogren has reached base safely in all eight game in 2018.

On the year, Ogren’s .345 batting average, 10 hits and 11 RBI are all team bests.

Ogren and the Phoenix will be back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 28, when the maroon and gold hosts Liberty at 4 p.m.
