Track and Field: HPU Finishes First Day of Charlotte 49ers Classic

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The High Point University men’s and women’s track and field teams finished action on the first day of the Charlotte 49ers Classic Friday (March 16) in Charlotte.

On the women’s side, freshman Nathalie Elliott placed second in the pole vault with a height of 3.80m (12-5.5). Fellow freshman Jessica Keys cleared a height of 3.50m (11-5.75) to place ninth.

In the 10,000 meters, sophomore Zoe Geis was the runner-up in 36:40.78, while junior Courtney Kerr was sixth in 38:14.16.

Senior Makenzi Holmes-DiGiovine placed fourth in the discus with a throw of 46.04m (151-0). She also finished 20th in the hammer with a mark of 43.56m (142-11).

Freshman Famke Heinst placed fifth in the 1,500 meters in a time of 4:29.15, while fellow freshman Caroline Baudinet was 12th in 4:32.74. Junior Keaton Case crosses the line 15th in 4:35.75.

Sophomore Kanajzae Brown placed 12th in the 100 meters in 11.98.

On the men’s side, senior James House finished 15th in the 100 meters in 10.87.

Freshman Siro Pina Cardona placed 16th in the 1,500 meters in a time of 3:57.36.

Sophomore Britton Mann finished 24th in the hammer with a throw of 39.59m (129-10). Freshman Gabriel Stainback placed 24th in the high jump after clearing a height of 1.85m (6-0.75).

The meet concludes Saturday (March 17).
