GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College women’s lacrosse team toppled to the Avenging Angels of Meredith College Tuesday, 24-4.

The Angels were quick to strike as they put up four goals within the first eight minutes of the game.

Senior Natalie Ritchey refused to leave the field in the first half without putting the Pride up on the board.

Ritchey made her way down the field and went unassisted to put up Greensboro’s first goal of the game while Meredith was down a player.

Laine Walston found Ritchey four minutes later and Ritchey laced the ball into the back of the net to tally the Pride’s last goal of the first half.

Meredith’s offense never slowed down and the Angels put up 14 more goals to take an 18-2 lead into halftime.

At the start of the half, Meredith took control and put up four more goals to take a 22-2 lead.

Walston and Kara Whitson continued to fight for the Pride as they put up one goal each, but the Angels ran away with the 24-4 victory.

“Today was a tough game,” Coach Jena Miller said. “We knew that going into this game, but we also did not come out to play at their level.

“We simply need to move forward from this game and get ready for the next one.”

Ritchey ended the day with two goals, while Stephanie Carr scooped up three ground balls.

The Pride women will return to the field Saturday when they host North Carolina Wesleyan College at 2 p.m . For more information on Greensboro College women’s lacrosse, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
