HiToms Release 2018 Game Schedule
HIGH POINT/THOMASVILLE, N.C. – The High Point-Thomasville HiToms have released their 2018 schedule, featuring 52 Coastal Plain League contests and 31 games at historic Finch Field.
The HiToms will kick off the 2018 season against the Kernersville Bulldogs of the Carolina Virginia Collegiate League at home on Saturday, May 26 at 6:00 p.m.
“We’re definitely looking forward to opening night,” said head coach Brian Rountree. “The fans bring lots of excitement and energy, and we’ll look to carry that with us through the rest of the season.”
HPT will play its CPL home opener against the Gastonia Grizzlies on Friday, June 1.
The Asheboro Copperheads will square off with the HiToms 15 times, the most of any opponent. The schedule also features 12 matchups with the Forest City Owls and 10 games against the defending Petitt Cup champion Gastonia Grizzlies, including on the road in the season opener on Thursday, May 31.
Those four teams will compete in the CPL’s new-look West Division. Thanks to the addition of the Macon Bacon as the league’s 16th team, the CPL will now be divided into North, South, East and West after previously only featuring two divisions—East and West.
Other highlights of the schedule include:
-Two trips to South Carolina—one to face the Florence Redwolves on June 2, and the other to face the Lexington County Blowfish on July 3. Those will be the HiToms’ only regular season meetings with those teams.
-A potential third trip to South Carolina for HiTom players for the CPL All-Star Fan Fest, hosted by Lexington County July 8-9.
-A four-game road trip in late July to accommodate the 91st North Carolina American Legion State Tournament, to be hosted by the High Point-Thomasville Post 87 HiToms at Finch Field from July 26-30.
The HiToms will also host a variety of special themed nights during games at Finch Field, including:
-Ennis Flint Opening Night Fireworks (May 26)
-Summer Splash Night (May 27)
-Scout Night (June 1)
-Picnic in the Park for the HiToms’ independent affiliate, the HPT Locos (June 26 and July 17)
