Elon Women’s Track and Field Concludes Competition at the Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Elon University women’s track and field team closed out its weekend at the prestigious and competitive Raleigh Relays on Saturday evening, March 31, at the Paul Derr Track and Field Facility.

Skylar Barthelmes was 12th in the hammer throw to lead Elon with her distance of 167′ 11″ (51.19m). Ellie Bennett was the Phoenix’s leader in the pole vault as the junior cleared the bar at 10′ 11.75″ (3.35m) and was 13th.

Melody Burke had a leap of 36′ 5″ (11.10m) in the triple jump to pace the way for Elon with her 14th-place standing.

Meagan Henderson led the Phoenix in the 400-meter hurdles with her time of 1:04.86 in the race and was tied for 19th. The Phoenix’s 4×100-meter relay team of Alyssa Zee, Moira O’Malley, Elyse King and Lauren Brzozowski ran a season-best time of 48.56 and was 12th.

Gabriela Varisco de Oliveira ran a time of 2:13.80 in the 800-meters for the Phoenix. The meet concluded with the 4×400-meter relay team running a season-best time of 3:48.86 as the quartet of Katie Arbogast, Henderson, Varisco de Oliveira and Brzozowski came in eighth overall.

Elon is back for the High Point VertKlasse Meeting next Friday through Saturday, April 6-7. The meet kicks off next Friday, April 6, with field events beginning at 10 a.m.
